It's that time of year again! Welcome to Mal and Ryl's 4th Annual Halloween Challenge! *
*cue Bobby with a sheet draped over his body and cut out eyes*
Yes, that's right! This year's theme is ghosts!
*cringe as Bobby parades across the stage, stepping on the sheet and causing it to shift so he can't see out the eyes*
This year, we want to read about those phantom spectres that haunt your dreams, and possibly waking moments, too. Any story about ghosts and the Bob-Whites will meet the requirements of the challenge, but here are a few ideas to get you started.
*bite lip as Bobby trips over the sheet, howls (either in pain or as a result of trying to get into character), and then picks himself up*
The Challenge:
Spooky Version:
- Ghost: The outward and visible sign of an inward fear. (Ambrose Bierce)
Write a story where a Bob-White is forced to confront his deepest, darkest, secret fear because of the presence of a ghost. Is Honey still terrified of snakes? Have Dan and Jim really recovered and moved on from their pasts? etc...
Friendly Version:
- Take a page from the movie Ghost and write about an encounter a Bob-White has with a ghost from their past. Does Trixie take knitting lessons from recently departed Aunt Alicia? Does Jim experience one last walk through the preserve with Winthrop Frayne? etc...
