Daisy Duke stood staring out the balcony window of the Lynch estate. Within a couple of hours she would be Mrs. Daniel Mangan, and she was giddy with delight over it. Turning she stared at her reflection in the full length mirror of Diana Lynch’s room.

What she and Dan had wanted as a small lakeside ceremony had quickly been taken over by Diana Lynch, and before she knew it, Di was planning on hosting the wedding at her parents’ estate. Dan just laughed and shrugged because he knew better than to try and change Di’s mind.

Now there were garlands everywhere, white tarps stretched out over the guest seats, lights in the trees, tables decorated in cranberry and ivory, the dance floor clear, the waiters ready. Somewhere in the house was Dan, no doubt having his nerves steeled by his old friends.

The girls were running around here somewhere as well, and Daisy tried not to fidget. Bo and Luke would both escort her down the aisle. Her beloved cousins, who were more like brothers. Hazzard seemed so far away now.

“You almost ready?” Di walked in. The cranberry-colored strapless dress suited the stunning brunette. With the strapless and simple dress, Di wore her hair pulled up in a French twist. As the maid of honor, she’d also wear a wrap to match the dress.

“Ready as I’ll ever be, sugar,” Daisy smiled.

Di searched her friend’s face. “Daisy, you are sure, right? You want to marry Dan?”

Daisy looked startled. “Of course! Absolutely, why would you even ask?”

“You just looked like you weren’t sure for a second,” Di answered, squeezing her hand.

“Oh I’m sure,” Daisy laughed nervously. “I just never expected all this.”

“All what?” Di asked.

“This.” Daisy waved her hand around. “The manor, this wedding-I always thought if Enos ever got up the nerve to ask me to marry him, it’d be a little ceremony in the town gazebo with Boss Hogg presiding.”

Di let out a peal of laughter. “We couldn’t have that! I told you, I wanted to give you two this wedding. Dan is one of my oldest friends, and we’re all family-or going to be by the time Mart and I get married next month. I only want the best for you and Danny, and this is how I can help give it to you.”

Tears shimmered in Daisy’s big green eyes. “Thank you so much, Di. This is just so amazing, to be happening to me.”

“Don’t you start crying,” Di laughed, but her own violet eyes were watery. “Dan would have my hide if he thought I upset you!”

The girls laughed and hugged tightly. Di gave Daisy’s skirt one more adjustment, though the coordinator would be there in a few minutes for last minute check up and to line them up.

“You look stunning.” Di smiled. “And I expect Dan will fall over dead when he sees you.”

Daisy just smiled happily as she stared at her reflection. She felt like a princess in a fairy tale. Her dark hair was pulled up from her face and fell in ringlets down over her shoulders. Tucked into her hair were small red roses that matched the crimson and white bouquet she would carry.

She had redesigned her dress a dozen times, finally settling on what she felt was perfect. A simple A-line ivory silk, with spaghetti straps and a sheer, delicate layer lace of over all of it. But the lace didn’t meet all the way around, it came together at her side, clipped with a small flower, and allowing a view of the silk beneath it. It fell to a short train of lace behind her. The sleeves weren’t really sleeves, but swaths of lace that fell into a bell pattern, and clipped twice on the outside of her arm with small flowers. Three of the same flowers were on the left strap.

“Daisy?” Someone was knocking at the door.

“Come on in,” she called.

Bo opened the door and was followed in by Luke. They stopped short at the sight of their cousin, resplendent in her white dress.

“Wow,” Luke said. Bo just nodded.

“What do you think?” Daisy asked shyly.

“You look absolutely beautiful, Daisy,” Luke managed. Bo walked to his cousin and hugged her.

“I feel like a princess,” she laughed.

“You look like one,” Bo said, smiling.

“I can’t believe this is happening,” she said, still smiling. “Me, Daisy Duke getting married in this big old mansion, to Dan.”

“We’re a long ways from Hazzard,” Luke said softly. “But you deserve it, Daisy. If me and Bo could have done this for you, we would have.”

“I know, sugar,” Daisy squeezed his hand. “But Dan and I would have been happy with just a little lakeside ceremony.”

“You deserve to be a princess, Daisy,” Bo smiled at her. “So you enjoy this day.”

“I will, cousin. Just think, we’ve all married Bob-Whites.”

“And our kids will all grow up together too,” Luke added. Bo just smiled. He wasn’t ready to be a father yet.

“I wish Uncle Jesse was here,” Daisy murmured, tears welling in her eyes.

“He’d be right proud of us,” Bo said. “We’ve got respectable jobs, makin’ somethin’ of ourselves, and look who we’ve all got to marry.”

“You know he’s probably downstairs, sippin’ ‘shine with Boss Hogg and arguin’ over your dress showin’ too much skin,” Luke answered. Daisy laughed.

A knock at the door interrupted them. It was their coordinator.

“We’re ready.” Daisy smiled as she picked up her bouquet.

The girls were outside, giggling as Daisy and her cousins came out of the room. Bo and Luke each gave their wives a kiss.

Daisy looked at Di.

“I don’t think I can ever repay you,” she said softly.

“You’re not supposed to,” Di laughed. “It’s the least we can do for our cousin. You’re my cousin because Trixie is my sister-in-law and you’re Bo’s cousin. So we’re all family!”

“Not to mention the girl that tamed Dan the Man,” Trixie giggled. “And just think what a tangled family tree it will be in a few years!”

After tight hugs and kisses for Daisy, they were ready to escort her to Dan.

Under the large arbor of flowers, Dan stood nervously with Reverend Mayberry. As with the two prior weddings of the summer, the seats were filled with family and loved ones. Daisy had insisted the Beldens and Wheelers sit in the family seats, along with Regan and the Lynches. She was still amazed at the number of people whose lives Dan had touched at some point.

Pachelbel’s Canon began to play and Trixie walked down the aisle first, followed by Honey, then Di, then Daisy, escorted by both cousins as the harp music began and the crowd rose.

Dan inhaled when he saw his fiancée, escorted by her two tall cousins. His eyes met hers and never left as she moved towards him, and he found himself unable to breathe.

Bo and Luke shook hands with Dan before handing Daisy to him. Dan couldn’t stop smiling as he took her delicate hand. Bo and Luke stepped back to join Regan in the front row. At Dan’s side was Mart, then Brian, and Jim.

“We stand together today as a family,” Reverend Mayberry began, “as Daniel and Daisy consider all here to be their family, and loved as such. We will witness here the miracle of love coming together, joining two souls who are devoted eternally. Who gives this woman in marriage?”

“We do,” Bo and Luke answered.

“Friends and loved ones, we are gathered here to witness the joining of this man and this woman in marriage; which is an honorable estate, instituted in the necessities of our being, and dedicated to the happiness of mankind; an estate not by any to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly, but reverently, discreetly, soberly, and in all sincerity.”

Brian Belden stole a glance at Honey and then turned his attention to the couple being married.

“To be true, this outward form must be a symbol of that which is inner and real, a sacred personal union, which only love can create and mutually fulfill.”

Jim Frayne tried to keep his eyes on the bride and groom, and not on the blonde bridesmaid.

“Love is a great thing, and thorough good. By itself, it makes everything that is heavy, light, and it bears evenly all that is uneven.

“Love carries a burden which is no burden; it will not be kept back by anything low and mean; it desires to be free from all worldly affectations and not to be entangled by any outward prosperity or by adversity subdued.”

Trixie couldn’t help but let her eyes drift to her husband, who was smiling proudly.

“Love feels no burden, thinks nothing of trouble, attempts what is above its strength, and pleads no excuse of impossibility.

“Love is therefore able to undertake all things, and it completes many things and warrants them to take effect, where he or she who does not love would faint and lie down.”

Honey was watching her own husband, who was also beaming with pride.

“Though weary, love is not tired; though pressed, love is not straightened; though alarmed, love is not confounded; but as a living flame, it forces its way upward and securely passes through all.

“Love is active and sincere. Daniel and Daisy have chosen to speak their vows of love to one another today. Daniel?”

Dan cleared his throat nervously before he began. “Daisy, the moment I saw you hop out of the General Lee, with those sparkly heeled shoes, I was a goner. Your smile, your beauty, your laugh, you filled a void in my heart, and my life, that had always been empty. I vow to you today, to make sure you never have that void, and to love you with everything that I am.”

Daisy smiled, her emerald eyes teary. “Dan, I couldn’t believe you fell in love with me, but your support and strength in the last year helped us get to this place, and I vow to you today, to be your support and strength and to love you with everything that I am.”

The three bridesmaids were sniffling softly.

“And with these rings, blessed by our support of this union, Daniel and Daisy will cement their commitment.”

Together, they slipped the gold bands over each others fingers as they spoke, “With this ring, I commit to you my heart and life.”

“You may kiss your bride,” Reverend Mayberry murmured. Dan grinned and leaned over to kiss her softly as Bo and Luke hollered “yee-haaa!” together, causing laughter into the crowd.

“And I present to you, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Mangan,” Reverend Mayberry announced, glad that there was only one more Bob-White wedding planned.

The music played as a grinning Dan and Daisy turned to the face their audience as a married couple. They began their stroll down the aisle, then were followed by Mart and Di, then Brian and Trixie, and Jim and Honey. Daisy had paired the siblings together intentionally, just as a precaution.

The sun was sinking slowly, casting its golden glow over the yard and gardens as the party moved to the enormous patio on the ballroom deck. The wedding party moved for photos on the sweeping staircase, and eventually made their way into the ballroom, where they were announced by the DJ, to thunderous applause.

Dan left Daisy to the dance floor with his trademark smile as their song, “Glory of Love” began.

Tonight it's very clear
As we're both lying here
There's so many things I want to say
I will always love you
I would never leave you alone

Dan pulled her close as they began to the music, eyes never leaving the other. Dan remembered the first day the Dukes arrived in Sleepyside, and watching the long-legged beauty hop out the window of the General Lee.

Sometimes I just forget
Say things I might regret
It breaks my heart to see you crying
I don't wanna lose you
I could never make it alone

Daisy’s mind turned to the night Earl had come to the house, and Dan had fought him, fought Earl to protect her.

I am the man who will fight for your honor
I'll be the hero you're dreaming of
We'll live forever
Knowing together that we
Did it all for the glory of love

Dan remembered lying against the wall, bloody and beaten, and raising his gun to shoot Earl and save her.

You'll keep me standing tall
You'll help me through it all
I'm always strong when you're beside me
I have always needed you
I could never make it alone

Daisy thought about her bulimia, and how Dan had helped rescue her from that as well, with his love and support.

I am the man who will fight for your honor
I'll be the hero you've been dreaming of
We'll live forever
Knowing together that we
Did it all for the glory of love

Dan remembered when she had been kidnapped in Sleepyside, and the terror that raced through his heart as he searched her, and the relief when she was found.

Just like a knight in shining armor
From a long time ago
Just in time I will save the day
Take you to my castle far away

Daisy remembered that first night he had come home with Bo and Luke, and Trixie and Honey, the new Marshals, and the way he had held her.

I am a man who will fight for your honor
I'll be the hero you're dreaming of
We're gonna live forever
Knowing together that we
Did it all for the glory of love

A shiver of pleasure ran down her spine when she realized he was singing softly to her, a smile of love on his lips.

We'll live forever
Knowing together that we
Did it all for the glory of love

We did it all for love
We did it all for love

Dan twirled her around as the song ended, drawing her up close for a kiss.
